MyRevisionAgent is an AI-powered study platform for IB Diploma students. Each grader is trained on real IB-awarded essays and scores against the actual subject rubric, not a generic prompt.

Who built MyRevisionAgent?

MyRevisionAgent was built by a team with deliberately overlapping expertise: a PhD candidate in Machine Learning at Imperial College London (CTO), a Quant Developer at UBS studying Information Science at UCL (CEO), and an education specialist with ten years' teaching experience at one of the UK's top 10 IB schools. The graders are designed by ML researchers and the rubrics are owned by an IB teacher.

Is MyRevisionAgent affiliated with the IB Organization?

No - MyRevisionAgent is an independent platform, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). We are a third-party tool that uses publicly available IB rubrics and a corpus of IB-awarded essays to help students prepare for their Diploma assessments.

How accurate is AI grading for the IB?

Our IB graders sit inside the range where two human examiners agree with each other. Two trained IB examiners marking the same essay agree on the exact grade only about 41-57% of the time; our graders land in that range too - 47% exact-band on the Extended Essay, 43% on the Internal Assessment - and fall within one grade band of the examiner 92-96% of the time. Every grade ships with an explicit ±error range so you can see the model's confidence.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT or Claude to grade my essay?

Our graders are trained on real IB-awarded essays; ChatGPT and Claude are not. A general-purpose LLM has never seen the IB mark scheme or thousands of real IB-awarded essays, so its predicted mark is a fluent guess. Our models are trained for IB grading, cross-checked by a statistical validator, and expose a full audit trail (model version, features, divergence) for every grade.

Is using an AI grader allowed by the IB?

Yes - using AI for feedback on your own draft is treated the same as feedback from a teacher or tutor. The IB's academic-integrity policy targets AI-generated submissions, not AI feedback on your own work. We never write your essay for you; we grade your draft and explain why so you can revise it. Always disclose any AI tool use as instructed by your school.

What AI graders does MyRevisionAgent offer?

Three graders covering the entire IB Core: the TOK Grader (graded out of 10), the Extended Essay Grader (10 subjects, graded out of 34 across five official criteria), and the Internal Assessment Grader (27 subject-levels graded on the real per-subject rubric, from /14 to /40).

Do I get per-paragraph feedback or just a score?

Every paragraph in your submission is tagged with a feedback type (strength / development needed / needs revision), a category (argument, methodology, evidence, structure, voice) and a specific revision note. Click any paragraph in the reader to focus it. The grade itself is broken down by criterion with examiner-style justification, not just a single number.

How long does AI grading take?

Between 4 and 6 minutes for any grader (TOK, EE or IA). For EE and IA that includes reading every table, diagram and equation out of your PDF with our own layout models. Progress streams live through every stage, and the per-paragraph annotations are added as the model finishes each pass.

Can I upload a PDF or Word file of my essay?

PDFs yes, Word files no - export to PDF first. The EE and IA graders take PDF only, up to 20 MB: we extract the text, preserve paragraph boundaries and surface the annotated original PDF in the Annotations tab so you can see exactly which paragraphs triggered which feedback. For the TOK grader, paste your essay text (800-1600 words) straight into the form.

What is the Extended Essay graded out of?

The IB Extended Essay is graded out of 34, distributed across five official criteria: Focus & Method (6 marks), Knowledge & Understanding (6 marks), Critical Thinking (12 marks), Presentation (4 marks) and Engagement (6 marks). Our EE Grader scores each criterion independently with examiner-style justification.

Which Extended Essay subjects does MyRevisionAgent support?

Ten subjects: Biology, Business Management, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English A, English B, Global Politics, Physics, and Psychology. Each subject uses its own feature weighting because the EE rubric rewards different things in a Physics essay vs an English Lit one.

Does the AI grader assess my research question?

Yes. Research-question alignment is one of seven subject-aware features the model extracts. It checks scope, focus and analytical framing, and feedback flags exactly where the RQ is letting Criterion A down - a weak RQ is one of the biggest single drags on EE scores.

What essay length does the Extended Essay grader accept?

Between 500 and 80,000 characters. The 4,000-word EE plus your bibliography and appendices all fit comfortably. Anything outside that range is rejected with a clear error so you don't burn a grading token on an incomplete submission.

What is a good Extended Essay grade?

EE grades on the A-E scale combine with TOK for up to 3 bonus Diploma points. A grade of A (~27+ out of 34) plus an A in TOK gives the full 3 points; the most common combination is B + B for 1 point. Anything in the C range or below contributes 0 bonus points but is still considered a pass. Our grader returns both the raw mark out of 34 and the predicted A-E band so you know where you sit.

How is the IB Internal Assessment marked?

Each IA is marked against a subject-specific rubric with its own maximum: Economics is /14, the sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) are /24, Computer Science is /34, History is /25, Mathematics is /20, and English Language & Literature SL is /40. Our IA Grader knows the correct denominator and rubric weights for each subject-level and grades against them directly.

Which IA subjects does MyRevisionAgent support?

How much is the IA worth in the IB?

The Internal Assessment is typically worth 20% of your final subject grade (the exact weighting varies slightly by subject - Mathematics IAs are 20%, science IAs are 20%, History HL is 20% / SL is 25%). Because it's marked by your school and moderated by the IB, it's one of the few components where targeted feedback before submission can directly move your grade.

Does the IA grader handle data tables, graphs and figures?

The grader is text-based. Tables paste fine as plain text and figure captions are analysed as part of the methodology section. Heavily image-driven IAs (e.g. Visual Arts) aren't supported yet - for those, the criterion-by-criterion text feedback still works but image analysis does not.

How is the TOK essay graded?

The TOK essay is graded out of 10 against a single rubric covering knowledge questions, real-life situations, perspectives and evaluation. Our TOK Grader uses a custom model trained on real IB-awarded TOK essays and returns a predicted band plus paragraph-by-paragraph feedback in 4-6 minutes.

What is the word limit for a TOK essay?

The IB sets a strict 1,600-word maximum for the TOK essay; there is no formal minimum but anything under 800 words rarely scores in the top bands. Our grader accepts essays between 500 and 80,000 characters so you can submit drafts above or below the final word limit and get feedback on structure before trimming.

Can the TOK grader score the prescribed titles?

Yes - the grader is trained to evaluate against any of the prescribed TOK titles for the current session. Paste your essay and the grader handles the title-specific assessment automatically.

Is my essay used to train your models?

No. Your submissions are never used to train our models. They are processed solely to produce your grade and feedback, and stored only against your own account history so you can revisit them. We do not sell or share submissions with third parties.

Is my essay content kept confidential?

Yes. Essays are processed over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), stored against your account only, and are not shared with third parties beyond the AI processing provider (Anthropic) under their no-training API terms. The only people who can see your submissions are you and (if you contact support about a specific grade) our team.

Can I delete my essays and account?

Yes. You can delete individual submissions from your history at any time. To delete your full account and all associated data, contact support via the Contact page and we'll process the request within 30 days.

Does AI feedback count as plagiarism on an IB essay?

No - receiving AI feedback on your own draft is not plagiarism, just as receiving feedback from a teacher or tutor is not. Plagiarism, under IB rules, means submitting someone else's work (including AI-generated work) as your own. We never write your essay for you; we grade your draft and tell you what would change the score. Always disclose AI tool use as your school requires.

What IB study resources are on MyRevisionAgent?

480+ curated resources covering all IB Diploma subjects: study guides, study notes, past coursework examples (IAs, EEs, TOK Essays), and reference materials. Resources are vetted for quality rather than pulled from open search results.

Are the IB resources free?

Yes. All 480+ resources are free once you have a signed-up account, with no card required. The paid product is AI grading via tokens - every resource and guide is free to browse.

Who creates and curates the resources?

Resources are curated by IB graduates who achieved high scores (typically 40+ points) and reviewed by our education specialist, who has a decade of IB teaching experience at one of the UK's top 10 IB schools. We only include materials that proved genuinely useful to top scorers.

How should I use past coursework examples?

Use them as reference models - to understand effective structure, argumentation and what examiners reward. Treat them like exemplars in a teacher-led classroom: inspiration and benchmarking, never copy/paste. Submitted work must be your own.

Is MyRevisionAgent free to use?

Yes - creating an account is free, with no card required. You get unlimited access to the resource library, all 100+ guides, and 2 free grading tokens on signup, usable on any grader (TOK, EE or IA). Additional AI grades are paid via grading tokens you top up from the Tokens page.

How does pricing work?

Grading runs on a token system: one token equals one grade on any grader. Sign up and we add 2 free grading tokens to your account straight away, usable on any grader (TOK, EE or IA) - so your first 2 grades are on us. Additional grades are paid via Stripe - top up from the Tokens page. Tokens never expire.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. Payment information is encrypted by Stripe - we never see or store your full card details on our servers.

Do grading tokens expire?

No. Once you've topped up, tokens stay on your account indefinitely. Use them whenever you submit your next draft, even months later.

Can I get a refund for unused tokens?

Yes - if you're a UK or EU consumer, you have a 14-day cooling-off period during which we refund unspent tokens. Tokens you've already spent on a grade are non-refundable because the digital service has been supplied. Outside the cooling-off window, contact us via the Contact page and we'll review on a case-by-case basis.
